Dr Erik X Alonso

Dr. Erik Alonso holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a specialty in Forensic Psychology from Albizu University. He also earned a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from Florida International University and was inducted into the Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society. Dr. Alonso is recognized for his outstanding academic achievements and is a member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology.


He completed his residency in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Miami Children's Hospital, specializing in Child and Adolescent Psychology. Dr. Alonso further enhanced his expertise through a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology, focusing on the Child and Adolescent Track at Miami Children's Hospital ~ Nicklaus Children's Hospital, an APA and APPIC Accredited Internship Site. His dissertation on an Adolescent Suicide Prevention Program Design using Multiple Family Group Therapy was published and recorded in the United States Library of Congress, showcasing his commitment to advancing the field.


Dr. Erik X. Alonso also served as a Court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem by the 11th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida and as a specialist with the Division of Family Court Services. In these roles, he provided expertise in Extended Co-parenting Therapy, Parental Alienation Reunification, Family Therapy, and Therapeutic Supervised Visits. His specialized training and extensive experience in Adolescent Behavior, child sexual abuse, Adolescent Self-Mutilating Behavior/Suicide, and Parental Alienation establish him as a leading authority in his field.

Pediatric Inpatient Consultation

Behavioral Medicine

Implementation of treatment for children and adolescents in an inpatient psychiatric unit due to self-injurious behavior or overdose involves several vital components. These include individual, family, and group therapy aimed at reducing self-injury, cutting, and self-mutilation behaviors.


The Intensive Outpatient Program facilitates the transition of children and adolescents from a psychiatric inpatient setting to outpatient care in the least restrictive environment. This program provides individual psychotherapy and family therapy to parents/guardians, structured within a four-hour session offered three times per week.


Adult Psychology

Implementation of comprehensive clinical assessments and evidence-based treatment plans for adults with mood and anxiety disorders. Treatment modalities include individual, family, and couples therapy, employing a range of psychotherapeutic approaches to address each patient's unique needs.
